We bought a robot to mow our lawn!

Happy Friday everyone!

Spring is springing and our much loved lawn service provider has retired. We will miss him but wish him much happiness as he begins a new chapter. Bobby is just the best!

But of course we had to decide what to do as our growing season is fast approaching. Many of you know that Cameron works for Blue Origin. What you might not know is that he’s working the upcoming Lunar Lander mission and keeps west coast hours (we both keep west coast hours; it’s easier that way and I don’t mind). It’s such a busy and exciting time at Blue; free time is at a premium. We ruled out the lawn services we had considered but this robot held a lot of appeal. We’ve been paying for mowing services for many years; this reputedly capable little robot will pay for itself in less than 1.5 mowing seasons for us and, if we can figure it out, can even be charged via a solar panel.

Here is some video; the fun part is at the end with cool, fun, creative robot garages so many people have built. There are scads more examples; I’ve only included a few. The first one and the last one here are my favorites!

What shall we name him?

Hubba Hubba I love this one! A deck! Sconces! Modern architecture!
And this one! So charming!
Look at how the window on the front door refers to the window above it!

These two ring all my bells folks! Cameron and I are going to come up with a design or mimic one of these or even something like this-the plans are on Etsy and can be modified!

So stay tuned as we venture forth!

Dana
