Inching Forward

Greetings all! I hope you’ve had a great weekend. It has been another busy one here as Cameron pushes the build toward the finish line.

This weekend he did a lot of metal fabrication to customize the rear door that provides access to the laser tube. The original design had an all aluminum door. He modified the door to accommodate acrylic panels that will be ordered this week. He sure is putting his massive tool collection to work for this build!

These photos would make more sense if the acrylic was in the door but this is where we are for now.

He also ran hoses for the chiller which cools the laser tube as well as the compressor which blows the smoke and debris out of the way of the laser beam.

If some of these photo’s don’t make a lot of visual sense to you, you’re not alone! The tubing isn’t complete nor tucked in the way it will ultimately be; he hasn’t yet connected the chiller or the compressor either. Both will live under the laser.

Cameron also did some inventorying of what parts still need to be ordered and tells me we are still on track for being operational in May (barring shipping delays). And if all of that isn’t enough, he fed my sourdough starter tonight all by himself! While I am learning about the laser he is participating in the journey toward homemade sourdough bread!

Until next weekend…

I was looking forward to the progress report! You and Cameron make a very good couple, true partners!

Aww! Thanks Debbie??Teti used to say that about us unbeknownst to me. What I didn’t mention in the post was that he also solved a problem I’ve had with the waste that Foundation Paper Piecing creates AND figured out/corrected several errors the pattern designer made on the Raven I was working on this weekend. It probably doesn’t sound at first blush as though there is engineering involved in quilting but FPP demands an exact fit. Thanks to Cameron’s intervention I was able to complete the Raven, it’s a block that belongs to a collection of blocks based on the work of Edgar Allen Poe. Ooops! I can’t attach photos in the comments. I’ll send it privately ????. Thanks for all your support and enthusiasm!

I love the idea of the quilt blocks on Poe’s works. I would think you could really let your imagination run wild! (I am partial to the dragonfly colors, lol!)

She’s a really interesting person. She’s doing some Shakespeare and Dracula and something with Plato. She has a lot queued up. I think the literary tie ins are a great idea. Glad you like the dragonfly ????.
