Corrections…

So this is what it is when you have a non technical person who trusts her atrophying memory rather than taking notes-inaccuracies. Here are the corrections.

One, the compressor pushes air through the LASER HEAD, not the chiller. The reason it pushes air through the laser head is to blow the smoke out of the way so the laser can “see” better and also to reduce charring in the instances in which you don’t want charring. If you’re engraving wood, for example, you want the charring.

Second, the role of the chiller, the ONLY role of the chiller, is to keep the laser tube from getting too hot. Without the chiller the laser tube would burn out. You don’t want that; the laser tube is an $800 item. The chiller works by running refrigerated water through the laser tube. Now this didn’t sound quite right to me until Cameron explained that there are three tubes inside the laser tube. The fire runs through the center tube, the water runs through the tube that is around the tube with the fire/laser in it, and the outer tube surrounds those two tubes.

So there you have it. Cameron sat next to me as I wrote this so it’s solid ????. Sleep well!
