Roofing for the robot

We made more progress this weekend; less than hoped for but definitely some forward motion. I have to say I’m loving the way he cut the shingles; I think the scale is perfect for the size of the structure.

Where we started

The following video is mostly a demonstration of the approach he used to cut the asphalt shingles which are normal residential roof sized so must be scaled down to be proportional to the structure. So if you aren’t interested in a real time (aka slow moving and detailed demo) video of the process you’ll want to skip ahead to the last 2 minutes or so.

One way to cut shingles to size

Since it’s a three day weekend Cameron was able to get the second half of the roof made installing hinges to create ample interior access.

So that’s it until next weekend. I did make another sourdough loaf and all was going well until I scored a bit too deeply and half of the dome began to deflate. The flavor is great but I aim for the aesthetics too. Maybe next time! I did achieve a textbook ear though! Gotta take your wins where you can get them!

Heavy sigh

I hope you’ve all had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend and that you found some time to create!
