Robot Garage Progress…and it’s pretty!

Greetings everybody! I have progress to report.

We had rain last weekend and it rained four times here yesterday (4/26) so we’ve been a bit waylaid. In addition, Cameron bought me an awesome longarm on a frame and put it all together for me last weekend. It was a major undertaking and we are still digging out a bit from that. Lastly, weeds and some bald spots in our turf have required attention. All of this is to say that he hasn’t had the amount of uninterrupted time he hoped to push this project farther forward than we are but, here it is.

Catching you up on last weekend and this one.

I tried to get this last angle but the garage is thrashed at this point

It looks like more than tinker toys now. I can’t wait to have the trims added and the windows in place. He bought house sized roofing shingles for the roof but will have to cut them to scale.

The green looks brighter on film and in photos than in real life. The goal was to balance having it blend well with shrubbery and grasses and me being happy with the color. The trim will be white but I might do something fun with the front door. We will see.

I’m busy baking bread, learning to longarm circles and curved lines, and doing all of my usual tasks. Just for fun, here is a video of Cameron using my longarm. Context: I was having trouble getting the hang of the momentum of the carriage the machine rides on to make circles instead of squares with rounded corners. Cameron always excels at anything that can be done with hands. He had never used my machine before this video. I had Frankensteined scraps together to practice. So of course he gets on and he’s a star from the jump!

He’s killing it with no practice time. Of course!

And of course he put it all together. He amazes me still and we’re going on 20 years.

About 400 pounds of mostly steel
No Jeannie blinks or nose wiggles were involved.
Mini sourdough boules

More fun next weekend. Until then it’s chores for me (and maybe some sewing time) and the moon for Cameron!
