I have received some feedback here and privately from folks claiming that they could never do the work I do but I disagree! We all start somewhere and all you really need is a sincere interest/curiosity and the recognition that mistakes are education and progress! The right tools go a long way too, you wouldn’t repair a window with a hammer. Inspiration is everywhere if you’re paying attention.
Years ago when Cameron bought his first 3D printer he remembered a conversation we had about when we were kids and I told him that I wanted to live in I Dream of Jeannie’s bottle. These days I’d like to be able to blink my way through food prep, cooking, baking, and cleaning; I’d be willing to forego life in the bottle for all of that for sure…plus there was no room for machines so…
I digress. I had been putting things away from my last project when I noticed the Jeannie bottle Cameron printed for me as a novelty all those years ago and was inspired to make this abstraction of Jeannie’s bottle. So here is the bottle and what I made this weekend with all those lovely strips of fabric!

And here is my air vent in my sewing room installed-super fun! Cameron says he has to figure out the mounts for the two smaller ones on the other side of the room. He is priming and painting all of the others he has cut and I’ll post photos once they’re installed.

I have another idea I’m going to try with the scraps from the strips Cameron cut. My kindred sewists and makers know that utilizing every scrap possible is a contest we have with ourselves. Whether your medium is paper, fabric, wood, acrylic, metal, glass, you know your material costs have risen. And scraps challenge your creativity quotient so, im off to experiment. Have a great week everybody!
