SURPRISE! Monday Madness!

Greetings all! I have a nibble of excitement to show you tonight. Cameron did some alignment work on the laser tonight and snuck in a partial test cut before inviting me to come down to the shop to watch it cut paper.

The compressor nor the exhaust are connected so we can’t run the laser for very long but the chiller is connected (can’t run the laser without it or you’ll blow the tube) and I felt the water coursing through the water hose after the video you’ll watch below. You wouldn’t believe the amount of burn odor this tiny bit of cutting produced. There is a lot of refinement that needs to happen to achieve clean cuts on various materials going forward but this is the first step toward getting there. It runs so fast and smooth; I’m getting sooo excited!

Hats off to Cameron for making this happen today. He knew I was bummed that he didn’t have all weekend to get her to the point of readiness for a test cut. Without further ado, enjoy!

Ok now your laser needs a name now that she’s a living fire breathing member of the family. I think you should have a naming competition!!!

I totally agree that she needs a name! I love the idea of a contest too! Cameron has been mulling a few; if he doesn’t settle on one that is a good route to go!
