Parcels of all sizes have been landing on our porch for over a week now; UPS, FedEx, and Amazon drivers must have a flash of “what are these people DOING” as they stop at our address daily. The coolest element to me is the actual laser head (the orange gizmo on the table). I had to laugh when I saw what must be hundreds of bolts. Im told they will all be used.
The long wood crate on the floor is the gantry which is the XY axis that the laser head will travel on. When he uncreated it there were a lot of heavy duty hardware pieces; the stepper motors are hefty to hold.
Cameron inventoried the parts that have come in but is in a holding pattern until the extrusion arrives (the metal frame/skeleton upon which the rest of the laser will be built). Photos of the goodies we have in house are below!

For those of you who are interested, I have pasted the link to the build plans below. The one big mod we know will be made will be to add the ability to separate the top and bottom of the laser or else we’d have to sell it with the house if we ever move. The other mod under consideration is to be able to drop the honeycomb floor out of the bottom of it so there wouldn’t be a height restriction on what we cut, engrave, or etch. Think about a giant lobster pot…it would be cool to emblazon some custom design or monogram on it, wouldn’t it? Oooooh the fun we will have! I can’t wait! Okay, here is the link!
